In Greek mythology, “Minthe” was the name of a river nymph, turned into a plant by Hades’ jealous wife, Persephone.
Because he couldn’t reverse the spell, Hades added the plant’s beautiful smell.
The word “orange” is a transliteration of the Sanskrit “naranga”, which means “fragrant”, so it doesn’t refer to the color of the fruit, but to its scent.
